Drug and alcohol addiction

Drug and alcohol addiction is a mental, physical, emotional and SPIRITUAL BATTLE. Drugs and alcohol are the hardest addictions, but there are lots of other strongholds in our lives which cause the breakdown of each and every area of our being; as a result, if not dealt with leads down a path of sorrow and misery and ultimately spiritual death. In order to overcome drug or alcohol addiction we need to seek the LORD and put God first in our lives. Jesus Christ is the only One who can help us win the battle and truly free us from the bondage of addictions caused by sin.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. —John 8:34

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. —Matthew 11:28

Psalm 107:10-16
Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High: therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help. Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. —John 8:36

We need to call out to God and ask Him for help, and ask Him for forgivness of our sins and repent. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. And pray for Him to guide our steps and lead our path and free us from our addictions, and also pray for wisdom, knowledge and understanding daily in the name of Jesus and He will deliver us from our bondage. He will do it His way however and He knows what is best for us and what we need. He may take our desires away instantly or it may come as a process, possibly leading us into a long-term Christian rehab program etc... He may show us the fear of the LORD along the way by showing us His sovereign power.

Psalm 94:12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord,
and teachest him out of thy law;

Psalm 119:67 Before I was afflicted I went astray:
but now have I kept thy word.

Psalm 94:12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord,
and teachest him out of thy law;

John 5:14
Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all menliberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Galatians 5:16-21 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,  idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,  envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:22-26
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

1 Peter 2:11-12
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;  having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
